The Weekend of Holiday Cheer

Last weekend was a weekend of holiday parties for us. We started off on Friday night with a hot cocoa party at our place.

We had several different extras to add to our hot cocoa:

  • milk chocolate chips
  • white chocolate chips
  • candy canes
  • mini marshmallows
  • hazelnut wafers
  • hazelnut & raspberry syrup
  • whipped cream

Each topping had its own place card. Cocoa was also accompanied by some treats: peppermint chocolate crinkles, pumpkin roll, and chocolate chip cookies.

The cocoa was so delicious (at least, as a cocoa fiend, I thought so) and the treats were plentiful. In fact, too plentiful. I may have overdone it a little bit, as Holland will be quick to attest, but I have no regrets. None at all.

Especially since we were able to bring a couple platefuls to the missionaries at the visitor's center. Which is where we were headed after the cocoa party. The Washington DC temple has a festival of lights every year. They use so many colorful lights around the Visitor's Center and more than just a few white lights around the temple grounds.

Aren't they beautiful? We are so lucky to live so close to the temple.
