Here are the highlights of my "operation."
- No facial swelling. Thankfully. Because I have a round enough face as it is.
- No facial bruising.
- No drooling on myself. (Holland told me I would, so I packed a towel in my purse the day of. Didn't even need it.)
- No extreme pain. In fact, I never even filled my prescription for the "hard drugs."
Here are the lowlights:
- Wisdom tooth diet. Can I really complain about this? EVERYONE has to do this, so it's not like it's a novel thing to me. But I will. I am so sick of not being able to chew with the back of my mouth.
- Not being able to brush the back of my teeth very well because of the gaping holes in my mouth. Hello 24/7 morning breath. (Not really, but the first couple days was not pleasant for Holland or myself).
- Holland rubbing it in my face that he has a fully functioning mouth by eating everything I wanted to eat. Literally, he rubbed food in my face. (No he didn't.)
I had a follow up appointment with my oral surgeon this last Friday (1 week post-op). He took a look at them, very briefly and declared me the best patient he had ever had.
Or... he said that I had been keeping them very clean and they were healing nicely. But in my mind, those two things are basically the same thing.
So, for the time being, I'm being careful about what I'm eating (no chips, no sharp stabby foods), but I'm testing my limits a little bit more. Brushing more normally. Not eating ice cream anymore. Not having bad breath any more.
Overall, a great (as it could be) experience. In fact, I think I'll go write Dr. K a good review if I can find a forum to listen to me.
